Guns are the number one killer of kids in America. With 91 school shootings in a single year, outrage had become background noise. Teachers Unify needed real behavior change without triggering the political tripwires that had killed every prior effort.

Two-thirds of school shootings are facilitated by unsecured firearms at home, a problem a $10 gun lock could help prevent.

Six student volunteers, kids who personally knew classmates killed at the school shooting down the street, ran a lemonade stand. But instead of lemonade, they sold gun locks for $10 each. What once was an idyllic symbol of childhood innocence became a sobering reflection of the reality they live in today.
